NEW YORK, N.Y. – Democracy Works CEO Luis Lozada announced the addition of four new members of the Board of Directors: Tonya Rice, Kate Markin Coleman, Stephen Goldsmith, and Brandon Feldman.
Rice serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Advocacy and Engagement at Washington University in St. Louis. She has extensive experience in election technology and engagement, previously leading data modernization projects and cybersecurity assessments for the Cook County Elections Office in Illinois. She previously served as Elections Vertical Leader for Amazon Web Services, where she led government relationships with Secretaries of State, elected officials, and nonprofits.
Coleman is the principal and founder of ias advising, LLC, a strategic consultancy focusing on innovative cross-sector approaches to social and workforce challenges. She specializes in the application of data and location intelligence to issues of social importance. Prior to founding ias advising, she was a leadership fellow at Harvard University and before that served as Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy and Advancement Officer for YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), a multibillion-dollar social enterprise.
Goldsmith is the Derek Bok Professor of the Practice of Urban Policy at the Bloomberg Center on Cities at Harvard University. He served as the mayor of the City of Indianapolis from 1992-99 and also worked as Deputy Mayor for Operations in New York from 2010-11. Goldsmith currently directs Data-Smart City Solutions, a project to highlight local government efforts to use new technologies that connect data analytics with community input to reshape the relationship between government and citizens.
Feldman is the Director of News & Civics Partnerships at YouTube. In his role, he works with news organizations and civic entities to develop and distribute content to reach their goals. Over his 14 years at Google and YouTube, Feldman has managed major initiatives, including the launch of the platform’s suite of news products and programs, along with its efforts to support civic engagement during key moments like elections. Prior to his time in tech, he worked in politics and finance.
